World Bank MIGA Professional Program – great for international students and alumni!

December 23, 2009

The Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA), a member of the World Bank Group, announces a new recruiting program designed to bring new and diverse talent into the Agency. The MIGA Professionals Program is targeting individuals who are interested in a career in political risk insurance. MIGA promotes foreign direct investment in developing countries to support economic growth, reduce poverty, and improve people’s lives. It does this through providing political risk insurance, or guarantees, against losses caused by noncommercial risks.

In this the inaugural year, we are seeking three officer-level candidates for a term of two years. Selected candidates would likely be assigned to either the Operations Department, Economics and Policy Department, or Finance and Risk Department. As part of the World Bank Group, MIGA does not require work authorization to be hired at its headquarters in Washington, DC. Therefore, we are an ideal employer for international students who are studying in or have graduated from your program. In this first year, the MPP is targeting the recruitment of individuals from sub-Saharan Africa and/or the Caribbean region, Women, and nationals of other developing countries.

I hope that you will help us in bringing this opportunity to the attention of your students and alumni. At our website, http://www.miga.org/jobs you and your students will find information about the program, specific descriptions for the three positions we are recruiting, and directions for how to apply. The deadline for applications will be January 15, 2010.
