The Fair Trade Federation (FTF) is the trade association that strengthens and promotes North American organizations fully committed to fair trade. The Federation is part of the global fair trade movement, building equitable and sustainable trading partnerships and creating opportunities to alleviate poverty.

One to two unpaid fellows are needed to support the work of our office. Interested individuals who wish to gain a wide range of hands-on experiences in a non-profit trade association and to contribute to the growth of fair trade in North America are encouraged to apply.

Monthly travel stipend provided.

The Fellow will:
Prepare applicants for screening, including pre-screening applicants’ practices, reviewing supporting materials, checking references, and liaising with the Screening Committee for review and approval;
Provide timely response to inquires from FTF’s existing membership;
Provide timely response to all public inquiries regarding FTF membership and fair trade;
Coordinate media inquiries and pass all media inquiries to the Executive Director and Board;
Support FTF programmatic activities in order to assist in the development of fair trade enterprises, including a national conference;
Assist with the publication and distribution of the FTF newsletter, Networks, as well as periodic membership communications; and
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Currently enrolled in advanced undergraduate or graduate studies in business, international affairs, development, economics, non-profit management, or related fields.
Prior knowledge and/or experience with fair trade, including participation in university or community activities, volunteering with a fair trade organization or business, or related activities.
Previous office experience, particularly in non-profit organizations.
Demonstrated ability to multitask with minimal supervision.
Demonstrated excellence in oral and written communication skills in English. Foreign language skills, particularly French or Spanish, a plus.
Previous international travel, especially in the developing world, preferred.
